IVΛIA MAICA, draped bust of Julia Maesa right, hair in bun at nape / legend unclear, eagle standing facing, wings open head left. SNG Copenhagen --; SNG von Aulock --. VF / near VF, green patina, pourous surfaces, somewhat off-center reverse losing most of ethnic. Rare, apparently unpublished . This piece does not appear in either SNG Copenhagen or von Aulock. There is no doubt it's Maesa, and her Provincial coinage is scanty at best, issued from only a few nints. This may be a heretofore unrecorded - or at least unpublished type and perhaps mint city as well. Estimate: 75 USD |  |
